Ways to Give
Bon Secours Baltimore Health System, Inc. (BSBHSI) is committed to good health for you and your family. We recognize and appreciate the generous people who support our mission to provide quality, compassionate healthcare to those in need, especially the poor and dying. Each year, BSBHSI serves more than 7,700 patients at our Baltimore Street hospital, a large number of whom are not covered by insurance.
Through the contributions of many, thousands of patients gain hope in their lives and a renewed sense of living.
All gifts to BSBHSI are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We welcome and encourage donations of any size and honor a donor's request to allocate their contribution to the programs or area of their choosing.
Unrestricted gifts are designated to areas of greatest need by the Board of Directors of Bon Secours Baltimore Health System, Inc. or Bon Secours Maryland Foundation.
Here are some opportunities for you to direct your gift to support our vital work.
Annual Giving
An Annual Gift is an easy way to help Bon Secours meet our growing community needs. You may designate your contribution to an area of your choosing or toward an established fund or program. Gifts to our Annual Giving support patient care, new technology, transportation services, community outreach, and an array of much-needed programs. All annual gifts are applied to general support unless designated and are allocated in the year of the contribution.
Memorial & Honorarium Gifts:
Gifts in honor of, or in memory of, a loved one, family member, or friend are lasting and meaningful tributes. They represent a heartfelt way to honor or commemorate someone special, celebrate a birth or milestone, or show appreciation for the compassionate, quality care received from our Bon Secours’ staff. Through these gifts, donors express support and pay tribute to the memory and honor of someone special. Gifts of any amount may be directed to a specific fund or to areas of greatest need within the organization.
Each honorarium gift is acknowledged to the honoree by the Office of Philanthropy. When a memorial gift is made, the decedent’s next of kin, trustee, or family is notified. Gift amounts are not disclosed.
Matching Gifts:
A matching gift is created when a corporation supplements a gift made by one of their employees to a non-profit organization. They are generally matched dollar-for-dollar, thus doubling the employee’s gift.
Many corporations have a matching gift program and require employees to fill out a matching gift request form and submit it for approval. We encourage donors to check with their employer’s Human Resources Department and follow their company’s guidelines.
Bon Secours Baltimore Health Systems, Office of Philanthropy complies with all matching gift policies. Upon receipt of the matching gift, an acknowledgement is sent to the corporation and a copy is sent to the individual donor.
Planned Gifts:
Planned gifts help the donor and Bon Secours establish a legacy. They provide the Health System with resources to continue and expand our work and offer tax and other financial advantages to the donor. Planned gifts ensure that future generations will receive the same quality, compassionate health care services today as tomorrow. Planned gifts offer donors significant tax reductions while allowing them to maintain their current lifestyles.
To learn more about planned gifts contact your financial advisor or Christiane Walker, Director of Philanthropy, 410-383-4716; email: Christiane_Walker@bshsi.org.
